Different Fiber Grades Explained

At Ares Industries, we integrate Industrial and Aerospace Grade fibers into our filaments achieving maximum performance.

 

Ground Fiber

This is the cheapest option, typically made from recycled or low-quality fibers that are ground down into irregular sized often damaged short fibers still offers some mechanical properties over non-reinforced filaments. It's good for hobbyists or for prototyping where strength is not required but dimensional stability and matt fiber surface finish is wished for. We do not offer this though as its against our believe in quality. Instead we have for example COP ToughM which is equally form stable and offers a matt finish while still being usefull for functional parts.

 

Industrial Grade Fiber

As the middle ground, Industrial Grade fibers are of higher quality than Ground Grade. Shorter but thicker fibers offering consistent performance for professional applications. These fibers are often tailored for industrial applications where parts need to be strong, durable, and able to withstand rigorous use. Our Aramid ASA and ABS for example is using this resulting in their incredible abrasion resistance thanks to the thick fibers sticking out.

 

Aerospace Grade Fiber

Representing the pinnacle of fiber quality, Aerospace Grade fibers are the finest available. Thin and long with a high stiffness. These premium fibers grant the highest strength-to-weight ratio, fatigue resistance, and stability under extreme conditions. As the name suggests, this fiber grade is engineered for the aerospace industry, where only the best materials can be used. This for example allows out HTPA CF15 to reach its unbelievable stiffness of 15000MPa.
